In the beginning, this was all just a creation of a rookie. There was no vision, no guideline, no real aim. It was established as a playground for writing, boundless and free, about the sport I love most: football. The Footy Pie is now my niche.

Here, there is only one objective: to tell the stories of football, and to do it properly. Statistics don’t do the job. Our storytelling goes above and beyond the material and digs into the humanity of it all, devoid of all the lazy hyperbole and inaccuracy of everyday news and gossip. We want this site to be pure and rich and perfectly distilled.

Some pieces will be long; some short. But all will be original, and we hope thoughtful. What we say will not be speculative or unfair. The players, like gladiators in ancient Rome, are loved, to the point of obsession and idolization. But they are human. We must remember that. And we want to show that. We want to give readers a chance to hear, smell, listen and understand what it is they are seeing on and off the field.

Slowly, the stories will unfold. Be patient with us, and enjoy the game.
